This project was an exciting challenge: transforming a compact house of just over 30m² into a functional, modern home, making the most of the plot, which is less than 45m². The goal was to preserve the exterior walls to maintain the original boundaries while expanding vertically by adding a second floor.

Project Description:
To create space and improve lighting, we opted for a complete remodel. All interior walls were removed, allowing for a total reconfiguration of the floor plan. In the new layout, spaces were distributed as follows:
Ground Floor: a utility area, a half bathroom, and an integrated kitchen and living room. Part of the living room was designed with double-height ceilings, providing a unique view from the second floor.
Second Floor: a full suite with an innovative bathroom where the shower is discreetly hidden behind one of the closet doors. This design brought a modern feel and allowed for space optimization without compromising comfort.

Strategies for Lighting and Space:
Since natural light only enters through the front façade, we replaced the windows with larger versions and added an extra window on the upper floor. We used predominantly white for the interior design, visually expanding the space and reflecting available light. The staircase railing, made of wood and glass, complements the modern style and keeps the space light and airy.

Outdoor Area:
In the outdoor area, we replaced the old storage space with a gourmet area, complete with a traditional grill from the Cadaval region. This new space provides an area for leisure and outdoor dining, preserving the local style and functionality.

Conclusion:
This renovation and expansion in Cadaval is a great example of how to creatively optimize small spaces. Every detail was designed to enhance space and functionality, creating a compact, practical, and modern home.
