📍 Location: Ota, Portugal
This project is a retrofit that transforms an old school into a contemporary residence, balancing modernity with traditional Portuguese architectural elements. The proposal was developed for the construction company Romano Homes, aiming for a design accessible to a broader audience.
I received the architectural project already conceived by a Portuguese architect, and my mission was to enhance the interior layout, define the decor, and create the renderings.
Space Distribution
The house has two floors with a smart space distribution:
✔ 3 bedrooms and 1 master suite (possibility of a 4th bedroom by converting the office).
✔ Open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area.
✔ Outdoor space featuring a fire pit, swimming pool, deck with loungers, and a gourmet area with a barbecue and a full bathroom.
Design and Finishes
The interior design, layout, and landscaping were carefully planned by me to ensure harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces. Neutral and soft tones were selected, while Portuguese architectural elements, such as the barbecue top, were incorporated to preserve the home's traditional aesthetic.
The custom-designed cabinetry will be delivered alongside the construction, reinforcing the sophisticated and functional identity of the space.
Construction and Completion
Construction is set to begin in 2025, and the final result promises a residence that seamlessly blends tradition and innovation, meeting contemporary needs while preserving the historical identity of the site.
